Dear Boys & Girls in SIFT:
I am so glad to share some of my own experience in UQ with you.
I must say before I came here, I am still a bit puzzled just like some of you that whether I had made the sensible choice as to give up the oppotunity to work in a well-known company but waste another year in UQ. But as time goes by, I feel so lucky to be here. Definitely, the academic environment is the most attractive aspect for me in UQ. Nearly I can't find anything unsatisfied in UQ no matter for the highly service of the faculty or the considered arrangements of the law school. I feel proud especially from the admiration of the natives when they heard I study in UQ.
I can say that UQ is really committed to interdisciplinary education. I think every big university is rhetorically committed to interdisciplinary education, but I think UQ is committed to it in a meaningful way.
The ability to come here and be part of the Law School, but also be a part of the broader UQ community and to have professors both in Law and English be willing to engage in the intersections of those disciplines–that has been great.
Having the chance to begin law school during the summer in a more relaxed and intimate setting is a great advantage. As an L.L.M. student who used to have much internship experience in multinational corperations and foreign law firms, I feel both firms work hard to make you feel welcomed and respect your other endeavors. Employers are intrigued by this idea of an attorney with another dimension. Finally, it may be the last opportunity to pursue another degree in such a supportive and accommodating environment. If you could meet the criteria of UQ enrollment, why abandon it?
Best wishes
Liz
