Law School stands out in the studies and teaching of international economic law, its predecessor being SIFT International Economic Law Department, the first such department in China authorized by the Ministry of Education. Law School offers undergraduate programs in Law (focusing on International Economic Law, Mercantile Law, and Administrative Management respectively), an M.A. program in International Law, and an in-service program equivalent to M.A. in International Law.
The task of Law School bings out highly qualified personnel in legal services and administrative management, who, backed by knowledge of world economy and international trade, are well-versed in domestic laws, international rules and international practices, as well as relevant foreign laws. Trained to think and reason in legal logistics, students are expected to have a good capability in problem analysis and problem-solving..
Law School has a teaching contingent with rigorous academic atmosphere and high scholastic attainment. In addition, Law School also invites reputed experts of long experience from lawyer's offices, political-legal departments, and business circles as part-time or guest professors to give series of lectures on the practices of law.
Law School has set up the Anti-Dumping Research Center of China, the International Economic Law Training Center for East China, the Simulated Court of Law, the Simulated Court of Arbitration, and the Shanghai Haoying Law Office, which provides an opportunities for the students' fieldwork.
Aside from various scholarships offered by SIFT, some famed Chinese and foreign law offices also provide special scholarships to Law School, for example, the Mayers Scholarship from the U.S. Mayers Law Office, the Zhongda Scholarship from Zhongda Law Office, which is among the world's top-ten law offices, and the Junhe Scholarship from the Junhe Law Office.
Law School also runs joint programs with foreign universities. Approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, Law School offers a joint cooperative graduate program in Law with the University of Canberra, Australia.
