In accordance with the demands of the economic construction of Shanghai and in line with international financial market operations, the programs in Finance School are designed to produce qualified personnel in international and corporate financing management. Finance School is among the first in China to set up the specialty of Corporate Financing Management.

Finance School offers undergraduate programs in Finance (a Sino-Canadian program), Finance focusing on International Banking, Finance focusing on Financial Analysis, Finance focusing on Insurance, Corporate Financing (a Sino-Canadian program), Corporate Financing focusing on International Assets Operations, and Corporate Financing focusing on Assets Appraisal. Finance School stands among the six few in Shanghai that are entitled to run an M.A. program in Finance. Finance School also operates an in-service graduate program.

Finance School has a teaching contingent consisting primarily of young and middle-aged teachers, with high educational level, high academic proficiency, and rich experience in practice. Well informed of the needs of China's market economy and the developments in international finance and corporate financing, Finance School teachers constantly renew and update their knowledge. Expert as well as versatile, each teacher is able to give lectures in two to three courses in both English and Chinese. In addition, Finance School also invites specialists in finance, securities, and multinational financial companies as well as scholars from other universities as guest professors.

Finance School attaches great importance to academic research and has made some achievements in curriculum development and textbook compilation. Finance School has been granted research funds from the State Social Sciences Fund, the Shanghai Decision-Making Consultancy Research Fund, the Shanghai Youth Fund, the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission's Key Research Fund in the Humanities and Social Sciences, and the Shuguang Fund, and collected several awards from the former Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation and the Shanghai Municipality. To serve the national economic development, Finance School stresses the integration of research with practice.

Finance School is actively participating in educational exchanges with foreign countries. In 1998, a joint bachelor's degree program in Finance and Corporate Financing with Douglas College, Canada, went into operation, with the introduction of advanced syllabuses, original textbooks, and modern teaching methods from prestigious overseas business schools. This program has been granted the Award of Excellence in Educational Achievements from the Shanghai Municipality and the Outstanding International Education Award from the Federal Government of Canada. For this reason, the Canadian side presents scholarship to graduates with honors.

Very competitive on the job market and eagerly sought by prospective employers, Finance School students are conversant with international business rules and norms, well-versed in both theories and practical work, and proficient at foreign languages. Graduates in successive years have collected such awards as An Zijie Award and Chen Biaoru International Finance Award.
