Shanghai Association of International Trade is an academic society with independent qualification of institutional legal person. Since its establishment in 1985, the Association has been keen on exploring new phenomenon and new issues of China’s foreign trade practice in the process of economic globalization. Meanwhile, it also provides possible consultative services to Shanghai’s enterprises engaged in international trade activities and keeps on growing with the help of the relevant departments of the Shanghai Municipal Government and the support of large trade groups/corporations. As the Association has been striving to play its unique role in the historical process where Shanghai is merging its economy into the main stream of the world economy and where the reforming and opening policy is being furthered, it has won positive evaluations from all circles of Shanghai and has become an influential social academic organization enjoying a high prestige in the field of international trade and economics research. The present president of the Shanghai Association of International Trade is Professor Wang Xinkui, vice Chairman of the Shanghai People’s Political Consultative Conference and President of Shanghai Institute of Foreign Trade.
Shanghai Association of International Trade will better employ its advantageous role as a bridge and bond between the academic world and the enterprise circle, and enhance the information exchange and communication among members by sticking to the watchword advocated by the Association ‘Innovation, Service and Development’, and through sponsoring regular annual meetings and seminars of all kinds. At the same time, the Association will also compile, translate and publish its members’ latest academic achievements at irregular intervals so as to provide high-quality service to all social circles for deeper and more profound exploration into the major and hot topics in the field of international trade and economics, in the hope of contributing its abundant advantageous resources and wisdom to Shanghai’s economic rise as an international metropolis and to the global expansion of Shanghai’s enterprises.
